🔹Bone health relies on a balance between bone formation by osteoblasts and resorption by osteoclasts.

Aging can disrupt this balance, leading to bone diseases.

🔹The gut microbiota influences bone metabolism by interacting with the immune system, endocrinology system, and by producing metabolites that directly or indirectly affect bone cells.

🔹Gut microbes produce short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) that regulate immune cells and bone cells, contributing to bone health or disease.

🔹Osteoporosis is linked to an imbalance in gut microbiota which may affect bone density by altering the inflammatory environment and nutrient absorption.

🔹Gut microbiota affects the healing of fragility fractures and the progression of osteoarthritis and spinal degenerative diseases.
